Job Summary


FutureAid Canada, a nonprofit organization dedicated to driving sustainable development and improving the lives of vulnerable communities, is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Data Analysis Intern. This internship is a unique opportunity for students or early-career professionals interested in applying analytical skills to real-world social impact projects. The intern will support data collection, cleaning, visualization, and reporting, helping the organization make data-driven decisions and measure the outcomes of its initiatives. Key Responsibilities



  • Assist in gathering, organizing, and validating data from various sources including surveys, program reports, and partner organizations.

  • Perform data cleaning, preprocessing, and transformation to ensure datasets are accurate and analysis-ready.

  • Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) and statistical assessments to identify trends, gaps, and patterns.

  • Create data visualizations, dashboards, and reports using tools like Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.

  • Support team members in developing monitoring and evaluation frameworks.

  • Document processes, methodologies, and findings clearly for internal stakeholders and donor reports.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including program coordinators, communication leads, and external partners.

  • Contribute to the improvement of data collection processes and recommend tools or techniques to enhance data-driven decision-making.


Required Skills and Qualifications



  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or related fields.

  • Basic knowledge of data analysis tools and programming languages such as Excel, Python, R, or SQL.

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Google Data Studio is a plus.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Passion for social development, humanitarian work, or nonprofit organizations.

  • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical handling of sensitive information.


Experience



  • Previous internship or coursework involving data analysis, research projects, or statistical modeling is desirable but not mandatory.

  • Experience with nonprofit, community-based organizations, or volunteer work is an asset.


Working Hours



  • Flexible working hours ranging from 15–25 hours per week.

  • Internship duration: 3–6 months with potential extension based on performance and organizational needs.

  • Remote work is supported; occasional virtual meetings or workshops may be required.

  • Proficiency in spreadsheet tools and basic coding for data manipulation.
