Job Summary


New York City Jobs is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Billing Associate to join our remote team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately processing medical claims, ensuring timely reimbursement, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. This role requires a blend of analytical skills, technical proficiency, and exceptional communication abilities to support providers and patients efficiently. Key Responsibilities



  • Prepare and submit medical claims to insurance companies and government payers in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Review patient records, insurance eligibility, and prior authorizations to ensure correct billing.

  • Monitor claim statuses and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to expedite payments.

  • Verify patient information, insurance coverage, and billing codes for accuracy.

  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and other healthcare laws.

  • Generate reports on billing activities, payment discrepancies, and account status.

  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives to resolve billing issues.

  • Assist in auditing and reconciling accounts to ensure accurate financial records.




Required Skills and Qualifications



  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.

  • Certification in medical billing or coding (e.g., CPC, CCA) is a plus.

  • Proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Kareo, AdvancedMD) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.




Experience



  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in medical billing, coding, or revenue cycle management.

  • Experience with insurance claim submission, denial management, and payment posting is preferred.




Working Hours



  • Full-time remote position.

  • Typical working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexibility may be offered based on team needs).

  • Strong problem-solving skills to handle claim denials and payment discrepancies.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
