Job Summary:
New York City Jobs is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Remote Teaching Assistants to join our team of educators, providing high-quality support to students in an online learning environment. As a Remote Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with lead teachers to ensure students receive personalized attention, guidance, and academic support. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from home while making a meaningful impact on students’ educational journeys.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist lead teachers in planning and delivering online lessons tailored to individual student needs.
- Support students during virtual class sessions by answering questions, clarifying concepts, and monitoring engagement.
- Provide constructive feedback on student assignments and progress.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and performance.
- Communicate effectively with parents, students, and teachers regarding academic concerns and progress updates.
- Help prepare teaching materials, digital resources, and instructional activities.
- Participate in regular team meetings and professional development sessions.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Basic proficiency in educational technology platforms (Zoom, Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to work with students of varying learning abilities.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
Experience:
- Previous experience in tutoring, teaching assistance, or related educational roles preferred.
- Experience in online learning environments is a plus but not required.
Working Hours:
- Flexible working hours, typically 20–40 hours per week depending on student needs.
- Must be available during scheduled online class sessions and team meetings.
- Part-time and full-time opportunities available.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic educational principles and effective teaching strategies.
- Ability to adapt instructional methods to suit diverse learning styles.
- Strong computer literacy and familiarity with virtual learning tools.
