Job Summary
Tesla is seeking a passionate and innovative Product Development Intern to join our world-class engineering and product design team. As an intern, you will play a vital role in supporting the creation, testing, and optimization of next-generation electric vehicles and energy products. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, prototyping, and development of new vehicle or energy product components.
- Conduct research and gather data on materials, technologies, and manufacturing methods.
- Support cross-functional teams in product testing, validation, and performance analysis.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation including CAD drawings, design specifications, and test results.
- Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot design and production challenges.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative solutions to technical problems.
- Support process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing product efficiency and reducing cost.
- Present findings and recommendations to the product development team and management.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of product design principles, CAD tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, or NX), and simulation software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.
- Passion for sustainable energy and innovative technologies.
Experience
- Previous internship or academic project experience in product design, manufacturing, or research and development is a plus.
- Exposure to automotive or energy-related industries will be considered an advantage.
Working Hours
- Full-time internship: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Flexible scheduling based on academic commitments).
- Hybrid or remote options may be available depending on project requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of product life cycle management (PLM) and engineering change control.
- Understanding of materials selection, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to interpret and create technical drawings and 3D models.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Excel, MATLAB, or Python is desirable.
- A strong sense of innovation, creativity, and initiative.
