Job Summary


Electronic Arts (EA), a global leader in interactive entertainment, is seeking a highly creative and technically skilled Game Level Designer to join our dynamic development team. In this role, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and implementing immersive game levels that deliver exceptional player experiences. You will collaborate closely with artists, programmers, and writers to create compelling gameplay, balanced mechanics, and visually stunning environments for some of the world’s most popular games.




Key Responsibilities



  • Design and develop engaging, interactive game levels that align with the creative vision of the project.

  • Collaborate with the art, programming, and narrative teams to ensure cohesive gameplay and storytelling.

  • Implement and test level functionality, including enemy placement, puzzles, and environmental interactions.

  • Optimize levels for performance, pacing, and player experience.

  • Iterate on level designs based on playtesting feedback and analytics data.

  • Document level design specifications, workflow, and tools for cross-team usage.

  • Stay up-to-date with emerging gaming trends, tools, and technologies to enhance design innovation.




Required Skills and Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree in Game Design, Computer Science, Interactive Media, or a related field.

  • Strong proficiency with level design tools and engines such as Unreal Engine, Unity, or proprietary EA tools.

  • Solid understanding of gameplay mechanics, player psychology, and game balancing principles.

  • Experience in scripting or basic programming (C#, C++, or visual scripting).

  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong collaboration and communication abilities, capable of working in a cross-functional team.




Experience



  • 2–5 years of experience in game level design or related roles within the gaming industry.

  • Portfolio demonstrating completed game levels, prototypes, or interactive experiences.

  • Experience working on AAA titles is highly preferred.




Working Hours



  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.

  • Flexibility may be required during milestone periods or crunch cycles.

  • Remote or hybrid work options may be available depending on studio location.




Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Deep understanding of level design principles, spatial layout, and player flow.

  • Ability to translate creative concepts into playable and engaging levels.

  • Knowledge of AI behavior, physics, and scripting for interactive environments.

  • Strong analytical skills for playtesting, debugging, and iterative improvements.

  • Passion for gaming and staying informed about industry trends.
