Job Summary


Optum is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Billing Executive to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the complete medical billing process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submission of claims. This role is crucial in optimizing revenue cycle management while maintaining excellent relationships with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.




Key Responsibilities



  • Accurately process and submit medical claims to insurance companies and other payers.

  • Verify patient information and insurance eligibility before billing.

  • Review and reconcile billing discrepancies, denials, and rejections.

  • Maintain electronic and paper medical records in compliance with HIPAA and company policies.

  • Communicate with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies regarding billing inquiries and claims status.

  • Generate and analyze reports related to billing, collections, and reimbursement trends.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth revenue cycle operations.

  • Stay updated on changes in medical billing codes, insurance regulations, and healthcare compliance standards.




Required Skills and Qualifications



  • Proven experience in medical billing and coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).

  • Strong understanding of healthcare insurance policies and reimbursement procedures.

  • Proficient in medical billing software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Medisoft, or similar).

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential patient information with integrity and professionalism.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.




Experience



  • Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing, coding, or revenue cycle management.

  • Prior experience in a hospital, clinic, or healthcare facility preferred.




Working Hours



  • Standard office hours, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM.

  • Flexibility may be required during peak billing cycles or deadlines.




Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • In-depth knowledge of medical billing regulations and compliance standards.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to manage claim denials and payment discrepancies.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) for reporting and documentation.

  • Adaptability to learn new billing systems and processes quickly.
