Atlassian is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Remote Technical Writer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will craft clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for our SaaS products, ensuring customers, partners, and internal teams have the resources they need to succeed. As a key member of our documentation and content team, you will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, UX Designers, and Customer Support teams to produce high-quality content that empowers users and enhances their product experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Create, edit, and maintain technical documentation including user guides, API references, release notes, tutorials, and knowledge base articles for Atlassian SaaS products.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product management, support, UX) to gather technical information and ensure accuracy and clarity.
Translate complex technical concepts into accessible, concise, and user-friendly content.
Maintain content consistency, style, and quality across all product documentation.
Conduct content reviews and usability testing to ensure documentation meets user needs.
Participate in process improvements to enhance content creation, management, and delivery workflows.
Keep documentation up-to-date with product updates, releases, and changes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or related field.
Proven experience as a technical writer, preferably in SaaS or software product environments.
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail.
Excellent ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear, simple language.
Familiarity with documentation tools such as Confluence, Markdown, MadCap Flare, or similar.
Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with remote teams.
Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities in a remote work environment.
Experience:
3+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably with SaaS products or cloud-based software solutions.
Experience producing API documentation, user manuals, and online help content is highly desirable.
Working Hours:
Full-time remote position with flexible hours; standard working hours aligned with your team and project deadlines.
Occasional participation in virtual meetings across global time zones may be required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong analytical skills to understand complex technical systems and workflows.
Ability to adapt writing style to different audiences (developers, administrators, end-users).
Competence in content management systems, version control systems, and collaboration tools.
Proficiency in visual content creation (diagrams, screenshots, and flowcharts) is a plus.
Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain consistency across large-scale documentation.
