Job Summary:
Knight Transportation is seeking experienced and safety-focused CDL Regional Drivers to join our dynamic team. As a CDL Regional Driver, you will be responsible for transporting freight safely and efficiently across regional routes, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining a high standard of professionalism. Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) across regional routes, ensuring timely delivery of freight.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to maintain safety and compliance.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and company regulations, including hours-of-service (HOS) rules.
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation, including delivery receipts, mileage, and fuel records.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other team members regarding schedules, delays, or concerns.
- Load and unload freight as needed, ensuring cargo is secured and handled with care.
- Report mechanical issues, safety concerns, or incidents immediately to management.
- Uphold a professional and courteous demeanor when representing Knight Transportation.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid Class A CDL license with a clean driving record.
- Experience operating heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
- Knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations (FMCSA compliance).
- Strong time-management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain focus during long hauls.
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills are a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably in regional or OTR (Over-the-Road) freight operations.
- Prior experience with a reputable transportation company is highly preferred.
Working Hours:
- Full-time, regional schedule.
- Typically 5–7 days on the road per week with return home depending on route.
- Flexible schedules may be available based on operational needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of truck safety, cargo securement, and route navigation.
- Ability to read maps, use GPS, and plan routes effectively.
- Physical ability to handle loading/unloading when required.
- High level of accountability and professionalism.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to handle unexpected situations on the road.
