Job Summary:
Greyhound is seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious CDL Class B Bus Driver to join our transportation team. This role is responsible for safely operating Greyhound buses, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring timely and efficient transportation of passengers along assigned routes. The ideal candidate is a professional driver who values safety, reliability, and maintaining a positive passenger experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate Greyhound buses in a safe, efficient, and courteous manner following all federal, state, and company regulations.
- Adhere strictly to assigned schedules and route plans, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of buses to ensure mechanical soundness and safety compliance.
- Assist passengers with boarding, seating, luggage handling, and any special requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, passenger counts, and incidents.
- Report mechanical issues, safety hazards, and operational incidents promptly to supervisors.
- Ensure a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for passengers throughout the journey.
- Provide outstanding customer service, addressing passenger inquiries and concerns professionally.
- Follow company protocols for emergencies, accidents, or passenger incidents.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with passenger endorsement.
- Excellent driving record with no major violations.
- Strong understanding of traffic laws, safety regulations, and vehicle operation standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively with passengers, dispatchers, and team members.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to identify and report vehicle issues.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Commitment to punctuality, reliability, and professional conduct.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably in passenger transport or bus operations.
- Prior experience in long-distance or intercity bus routes is a plus.
Working Hours:
- Full-time position; schedules may include day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
- Flexibility to work varying routes and extended hours as operational needs demand.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of route navigation, traffic patterns, and safety protocols.
- Ability to handle passengers in a courteous, professional, and empathetic manner.
- Physical ability to assist passengers, handle luggage, and perform routine vehicle inspections.
- Time management skills to ensure adherence to schedules.
- Strong attention to detail for record-keeping and safety compliance.
