Job Summary
Clean Harbors is seeking a skilled and safety-focused CDL Hazmat Tanker Truck Driver to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for transporting hazardous materials safely and efficiently to various customer sites, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations. The ideal candidate has a strong safety record, excellent driving skills, and a commitment to maintaining Clean Harbors’ high standards in environmental and hazardous waste management.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a tanker truck to safely transport hazardous materials, including chemicals, waste liquids, and other regulated substances.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Safely load and unload hazardous materials at customer sites, following all safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Accurately complete required documentation, including shipping papers, manifests, logs, and reports.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, operations teams, and customers to coordinate timely deliveries and pickups.
- Maintain a clean and safe vehicle, reporting any mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all Clean Harbors safety policies, procedures, and environmental standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license with Hazmat endorsement.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local transportation regulations regarding hazardous materials.
- Ability to safely operate and maneuver tanker trucks in various weather and traffic conditions.
- Basic mechanical skills to identify minor vehicle issues and perform routine maintenance.
- Excellent time management, organization, and communication skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with environmental regulations.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience, preferably in tanker or hazardous material transportation.
- Previous experience with hazardous waste or chemical transportation is highly preferred.
Working Hours
- Full-time position; schedule may vary depending on delivery routes.
- Availability for occasional overtime, weekends, and extended trips may be required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict safety protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret maps, delivery instructions, and regulatory guidelines.
- Physical ability to load/unload materials and secure cargo as needed.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to manage unexpected situations during transport.
