Covenant Transport is seeking highly motivated and safety-conscious CDL Regional Drivers for our Dry Van Division. Key Responsibilities
- Operate a commercial motor vehicle safely and efficiently within regional routes.
- Transport dry van freight while adhering to all DOT regulations and company policies.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure roadworthiness.
- Maintain accurate logs, delivery records, and reports in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members.
- Ensure cargo is handled and delivered with care, maintaining quality standards.
- Identify and report maintenance issues promptly to prevent operational disruptions.
- Exhibit professionalism at all times and provide excellent customer service.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license with clean driving record.
- Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in regional trucking or equivalent over-the-road (OTR) experience.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, safety standards, and vehicle operation.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to handle long hours on the road with attention to detail.
- Professional demeanor and commitment to customer satisfaction.
Experience
- Regional or OTR driving experience preferred.
- Prior experience in dry van operations is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELD) and GPS systems is a plus.
Working Hours
- Full-time, primarily regional routes (home most nights, limited time away from home).
- Flexible scheduling based on route assignments, typically 40–60 hours per week.
- May include weekend deliveries depending on customer needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- In-depth understanding of vehicle maintenance, safety, and operation.
- Ability to navigate routes efficiently and safely.
- Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities while on the road.
- Physical stamina to handle loading/unloading and long driving shifts.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining performance standards.
