Job Summary
Sysco Foods, a leader in food distribution and supply chain solutions, is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious CDL Class A Local Truck Driver to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of fresh and frozen food products to restaurants, hotels, and other commercial establishments in your local area. Key Responsibilities
- Operate a Class A commercial vehicle safely and efficiently in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Load and unload food products, ensuring items are handled with care and delivered in optimal condition.
- Plan routes effectively to ensure timely deliveries while optimizing fuel and time efficiency.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, including mileage, fuel usage, and delivery confirmations.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and ensuring a positive delivery experience.
- Collaborate with dispatch and warehouse teams to coordinate deliveries and product handling.
- Adhere strictly to Sysco’s policies, procedures, and safety protocols at all times.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record.
- Proven ability to operate tractor-trailers safely in local delivery settings.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs safely.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for performing vehicle inspections and troubleshooting minor issues.
- High level of reliability, professionalism, and attention to detail.
Experience
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience as a Class A truck driver preferred.
- Prior experience in food distribution or refrigerated product handling is a plus.
- Familiarity with local routes and traffic patterns in the assigned delivery area.
Working Hours
- Full-time position with flexible local delivery schedules.
- Early morning or evening shifts may be required depending on delivery routes.
- Occasional overtime based on operational needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of DOT regulations, safety standards, and best practices for commercial driving.
- Ability to read maps, GPS systems, and route instructions effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills for on-road challenges and delivery issues.
- Physically fit for lifting, bending, and handling deliveries.
- High level of integrity and accountability in all job responsibilities.
