Job Summary:
Western Express is seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious CDL OTR Flatbed Driver to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for transporting freight across long distances on flatbed trucks while ensuring the safe and timely delivery of goods. This position is ideal for drivers who are committed to excellence, safety, and professionalism in the transportation industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a flatbed truck in compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations.
- Load, secure, and unload freight using appropriate equipment and techniques to prevent damage.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure the truck and cargo are in optimal condition.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel usage, and hours of service (HOS).
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and customers to coordinate shipments.
- Identify and report any mechanical issues, accidents, or safety hazards promptly.
- Uphold company standards for professionalism, appearance, and customer service at all times.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A.
- Clean driving record and ability to pass DOT physical and drug screening.
- Experience operating flatbed trucks and securing various types of loads.
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations and safe driving practices.
- Ability to read and understand shipping documents, maps, and GPS systems.
- Excellent time management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1–3 years of experience as a CDL OTR Flatbed Driver or similar long-haul driving experience preferred.
- Experience with over-dimensional and heavy loads is a plus.
Working Hours:
- Full-time, OTR (Over-the-Road) schedule with long-haul assignments.
- Flexible schedules may include nights, weekends, and extended trips depending on route requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong mechanical aptitude for basic truck maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ability to handle physical tasks including loading, unloading, and securing freight.
- Excellent navigational skills and familiarity with trucking routes.
- Commitment to safety and compliance with all industry regulations.
- Dependable, punctual, and capable of working independently on long-haul assignments.
