Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a Class A commercial vehicle to shuttle freight safely between local terminals and designated locations.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with company and DOT standards.
  • Secure freight properly using appropriate safety equipment and loading procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, hours of service, and vehicle inspections as required by company policy and federal regulations.
  • Communicate professionally with dispatchers, dockworkers, and customers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies to maintain the highest level of safety and service.
  • Report any vehicle defects, accidents, or incidents promptly to management.
  • Assist with dock operations or freight handling as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat or Doubles/Triples endorsement preferred.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no serious violations in the past 3 years.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT rules and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull freight up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to punctuality and reliability.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of tractor-trailer driving experience preferred, though exceptional recent CDL graduates may be considered.
  • Prior experience in local, regional, or shuttle freight operations is advantageous.

Working Hours

  • Full-time position with consistent local routes and home daily.
  • Typical schedules may include early mornings, evenings, or weekend shifts based on freight demand.
  • Overtime opportunities available during peak periods.

  • Knowledge of local and regional transportation routes.
  • Ability to operate different trailer types and handle dock equipment.
  • Strong time management and route-planning skills.
