Key Responsibilities
Operate a Class A commercial vehicle to shuttle freight safely between local terminals and designated locations.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with company and DOT standards.
Secure freight properly using appropriate safety equipment and loading procedures.
Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, hours of service, and vehicle inspections as required by company policy and federal regulations.
Communicate professionally with dispatchers, dockworkers, and customers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies to maintain the highest level of safety and service.
Report any vehicle defects, accidents, or incidents promptly to management.
Assist with dock operations or freight handling as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat or Doubles/Triples endorsement preferred.
Minimum age of 21 years.
Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no serious violations in the past 3 years.
Strong knowledge of DOT rules and safety regulations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to lift, push, or pull freight up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to punctuality and reliability.
Experience
Minimum 1 year of tractor-trailer driving experience preferred, though exceptional recent CDL graduates may be considered.
Prior experience in local, regional, or shuttle freight operations is advantageous.
Working Hours
Full-time position with consistent local routes and home daily.
Typical schedules may include early mornings, evenings, or weekend shifts based on freight demand.
