Heartland Express is seeking dependable and safety-driven CDL Class A Regional Truck Drivers to join our professional fleet. Key Responsibilities
Operate a Class A commercial vehicle to transport freight safely and efficiently across assigned regional routes.
Ensure all loads are properly secured and delivered according to schedule.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery documentation, and fuel receipts.
Follow all company policies and federal/state transportation laws to ensure the highest safety standards.
Communicate effectively with dispatchers, shippers, and receivers.
Report mechanical issues or delays promptly to ensure minimal downtime.
Represent Heartland Express professionally at all times while providing excellent customer service.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A).
Clean driving record with no major moving violations in the last 3 years.
Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT hours of service, and safety standards.
Ability to handle long driving hours and regional routes with professionalism.
Strong communication and time management skills.
Must pass a DOT physical, drug test, and background check.
Ability to lift, push, or pull freight up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Experience
Minimum of 6 months of recent CDL-A driving experience preferred.
Recent trucking school graduates are encouraged to apply; training may be available for qualified candidates.
Prior regional or OTR (Over-the-Road) experience is a plus.
Working Hours
Regional routes with consistent weekly schedules.
Home time typically every weekend or multiple times per week, depending on route assignment.
Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
