Job Summary
US Xpress, one of America’s leading transportation and logistics companies, is seeking reliable and safety-focused CDL Class A Regional Truck Drivers to join our growing team. You will be responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transport of freight across designated regional routes while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a Class A commercial vehicle safely and in compliance with all DOT and company regulations.
- Deliver freight within assigned regional routes, ensuring on-time pick-up and delivery.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate driving logs, delivery documentation, and compliance reports.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, shippers, and receivers to coordinate deliveries.
- Secure loads properly and ensure that cargo is handled safely to prevent damage or loss.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety standards, and route schedules.
- Provide excellent customer service while representing US Xpress in a professional manner at all times.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A License with an acceptable driving record.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and road safety procedures.
- Ability to operate electronic logging devices (ELDs) and onboard GPS systems.
- Good physical stamina to handle long driving hours and occasional loading/unloading tasks.
- Strong communication and time management skills.
- Commitment to safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Experience
- Minimum 6 months of recent CDL Class A driving experience preferred.
- Regional or OTR (Over-The-Road) experience is a plus.
- New graduates from approved CDL training programs may also be considered under specific conditions.
Working Hours
- Full-time, regional routes with consistent weekly miles.
- Typical work schedule includes 5 days on and 2 days off.
- Home weekly or bi-weekly, depending on route and location.
- Flexible availability may be required for night, weekend, or holiday deliveries.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Comprehensive understanding of vehicle operations, load securement, and trip planning.
- Ability to handle unforeseen road situations calmly and responsibly.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate paperwork.
- Mechanical aptitude to identify potential truck issues early.
- Dependable work ethic and strong problem-solving skills.
