Job Summary
Airgas USA is seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious CDL Hazmat Tanker Driver to join our transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of hazardous materials and gases to our customers while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations. This position is ideal for experienced commercial drivers with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate tanker trucks to deliver compressed, liquid, or hazardous gases safely to commercial and industrial clients.
- Ensure proper loading, unloading, and handling of hazardous materials in compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety protocols.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, route sheets, and inspection reports.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and customers to coordinate delivery schedules.
- Respond to emergencies or incidents promptly and according to safety guidelines.
- Adhere strictly to all state and federal regulations regarding the transport of hazardous materials.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A with Hazmat endorsement.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and hazardous materials handling procedures.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience driving commercial tanker trucks, preferably with hazardous materials.
- Experience with route planning and time management in delivery operations.
Working Hours
- Full-time position; primarily daytime and early evening shifts, with occasional overtime as required.
- Willingness to travel locally or regionally depending on delivery routes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety inspections.
- Ability to read maps, follow GPS, and navigate efficiently.
- Strong problem-solving skills for addressing delivery or mechanical issues.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as climbing, lifting, and securing loads.
