Job Summary


Saia LTL Freight is seeking a dedicated and professional CDL Class A Linehaul Driver to join our growing logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting freight over long distances, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining compliance with all DOT regulations. This role requires strong driving skills, a commitment to safety, and a dedication to providing exceptional service to our customers.




Key Responsibilities



  • Safely operate company-provided equipment, including tractor-trailers, for long-haul freight delivery.

  • Plan and execute efficient routes to ensure on-time delivery and maximize fuel efficiency.

  • Inspect vehicles before and after trips to ensure safety, compliance, and maintenance requirements are met.

  • Accurately document mileage, fuel usage, cargo, and any incidents according to company and DOT regulations.

  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other team members regarding delivery schedules, delays, or issues.

  • Maintain the integrity of cargo, including securing loads and adhering to weight restrictions.

  • Follow all company policies, safety protocols, and Department of Transportation regulations.

  • Handle necessary paperwork, including delivery confirmations, bills of lading, and inspection reports.




Required Skills and Qualifications



  • Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record.

  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local trucking regulations.

  • Proven ability to operate tractor-trailers safely over long distances.

  • Ability to plan routes efficiently using GPS, maps, or other navigation tools.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated.

  • Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting is preferred.




Experience



  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Class A CDL driver, preferably with long-haul or linehaul experience.

  • Experience with LTL (Less Than Truckload) operations is a plus.




Working Hours



  • Long-haul linehaul routes typically involve extended hours and overnight travel.

  • Flexible schedules may be required, including weekends or holidays, depending on route assignments.

  • Home time varies depending on route length and company assignments.




Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Strong understanding of road safety and regulatory compliance.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections.

  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to deadlines.

  • Physical stamina to handle long hours of driving and occasional loading/unloading assistance.
