Job Summary
Covenant Transport is seeking experienced and safety-focused CDL Regional Truck Drivers to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for professional drivers who take pride in delivering freight efficiently and safely while enjoying a regional route that allows for a balanced home-life schedule. As a CDL Regional Truck Driver, you will operate Class A trucks across assigned routes, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining exceptional standards of service for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles on regional routes, adhering to all federal, state, and company regulations.
- Transport freight to various locations within assigned regions, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections, reporting any mechanical issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, delivery logs, and other required documentation.
- Load and unload cargo when necessary, ensuring all shipments are handled safely and securely.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members to provide updates and resolve any logistical issues.
- Promote a safety-first culture and adhere to all company policies regarding compliance, safety, and professionalism.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a truck driver, preferably in regional or long-haul operations.
- Strong knowledge of transportation and logistics practices.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations, safety protocols, and electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Ability to read maps, follow GPS navigation, and plan efficient routes.
- Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Experience
- Minimum of 1–3 years of professional driving experience in a regional or over-the-road capacity.
- Experience with refrigerated, dry van, or flatbed freight is a plus.
Working Hours
- Regional schedule with predictable home time, typically ranging 40–60 hours per week.
- Flexible scheduling options may be available to accommodate personal needs.
- Weekend and holiday driving may be required depending on route assignments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- Physical ability to handle cargo, operate truck equipment, and perform inspections.
- Adaptability to changing schedules, routes, and customer requirements.
- Proficiency with electronic logging devices, communication tools, and basic vehicle troubleshooting.
