Job Summary
Melton Truck Lines is seeking a highly motivated and experienced CDL Flatbed Regional Driver to join our dynamic transportation team. This role involves safely transporting freight across regional routes, ensuring on-time deliveries, and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and company regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Operate a flatbed commercial truck safely and efficiently on assigned regional routes.
- Load and unload freight, ensuring proper handling, securement, and protection of cargo.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and operational compliance.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery records.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding schedules, delays, and delivery updates.
- Adhere strictly to all DOT, federal, state, and company regulations and safety protocols.
- Report mechanical issues, accidents, or incidents promptly to the appropriate parties.
- Provide excellent customer service, maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor during deliveries.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record.
- Experience in flatbed trucking and knowledge of load securement techniques.
- Familiarity with regional routes, navigation systems, and electronic logging devices (ELD).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of DOT safety regulations and standard industry practices.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of flatbed driving experience in a regional or long-haul capacity preferred.
- Proven track record of safe driving and on-time delivery.
Working Hours
- Regional routes typically involve 40–50 hours per week, with occasional extended hours as needed.
- Weekend work may be required based on route assignments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude for routine truck inspections and minor troubleshooting.
- Physical ability to lift and secure loads safely.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing schedules, weather conditions, and traffic patterns.
