Job Summary
XPO Logistics is seeking a dependable and safety-focused CDL Class A Yard Jockey to join our dedicated team. In this position, you will be responsible for efficiently moving trailers to and from dock doors, staging areas, and parking lots within our facility. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent driving skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest safety and operational standards. This role plays a vital part in keeping our logistics operations running smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely move and position trailers within the yard to ensure efficient dock operations.
- Inspect trailers for safety and maintenance compliance before and after movement.
- Maintain accurate records of trailer locations using yard management systems.
- Assist with loading and unloading coordination to support warehouse efficiency.
- Ensure all movements comply with company safety policies and DOT regulations.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections on assigned equipment.
- Report any mechanical issues or damages promptly to the maintenance department.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and warehouse staff.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area within the yard.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 1 year of recent commercial driving experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety compliance.
- Ability to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
- Must be able to perform basic vehicle inspections and minor maintenance checks.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a CDL driver, yard jockey, or similar role in a logistics, transportation, or distribution environment.
- Experience operating yard tractors, switchers, or similar equipment is highly desirable.
Working Hours
- Full-time position with flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
