Key Responsibilities
- Operate a Class A Commercial Vehicle to transport freight on dedicated routes.
- Ensure all loads are delivered safely, on time, and according to customer requirements.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to maintain compliance with DOT regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs of working hours and vehicle service reports as required by federal and company policies.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety protocols, and JB Hunt operational procedures.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and logistics coordinators.
- Handle freight with care during loading and unloading when required.
- Report any incidents, mechanical issues, or route changes promptly.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A).
- Clean driving record with no major violations in the past 3 years.
- Ability to operate and maneuver trucks safely in various weather and traffic conditions.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, hours-of-service compliance, and truck safety procedures.
- Strong communication and time management skills.
- Commitment to customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
Experience
- Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of CDL-A driving experience preferred.
- Experience with dedicated or regional routes will be considered an asset.
- Recent driving school graduates with exceptional safety records may also apply.
Working Hours
- Full-time position with dedicated, predictable routes.
- Schedule may include weekdays, weekends, and occasional holidays depending on customer needs.
- Home daily or home weekly options available based on route assignment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of truck maintenance and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
- Ability to use GPS and electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Excellent navigation and route-planning skills.
- Dependability, discipline, and professionalism in all aspects of the job.
- Physical ability to lift, load, or unload freight when required.
