Job Summary


Clean Harbors, a leading provider of environmental, energy, and industrial services, is seeking experienced CDL Hazmat Tanker Drivers to join our dynamic team. This role involves safely transporting hazardous materials, adhering to strict regulatory requirements, and providing excellent service to our clients. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong safety mindset, professionalism, and the ability to operate heavy-duty tanker vehicles with precision.




Key Responsibilities



  • Safely operate a commercial tanker truck to transport hazardous materials to and from designated locations.

  • Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations regarding hazardous materials handling and transportation.

  • Conduct thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure operational safety and compliance.

  • Accurately document load information, mileage, fuel, and delivery reports using company systems.

  • Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of vehicles, reporting maintenance needs promptly.

  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and site personnel to ensure timely deliveries.

  • Respond appropriately to emergencies, spills, or accidents in accordance with safety protocols.




Required Skills and Qualifications



  • Valid CDL Class A license with Hazmat (H), Tanker (N), and Air Brake endorsements.

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations, especially regarding hazardous materials.

  • Excellent driving record with no major violations or accidents in the past three years.

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and make safe, informed decisions.




Experience



  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating commercial tanker trucks, preferably with hazardous materials.

  • Experience in industrial, environmental, or chemical transportation is highly desirable.




Working Hours



  • Full-time position with schedules that may include overnight, weekends, or extended hours depending on delivery routes.

  • Flexibility to accommodate long-haul assignments and irregular shifts.




Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • In-depth knowledge of safe hazardous material handling procedures.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude for basic truck inspection and troubleshooting.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond appropriately to emergencies.

  • High level of physical stamina to handle long hours, lifting, and climbing in and out of trucks.

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
