Key Responsibilities
- Operate commercial trucks safely and efficiently on assigned regional routes.
- Ensure timely delivery of freight while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and report any mechanical issues.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and cargo details in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays.
- Handle freight carefully, securing loads properly to prevent damage during transport.
- Uphold Knight Transportation’s standards for professional conduct, appearance, and customer service.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state trucking regulations.
- Ability to operate trucks safely under various road and weather conditions.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Physical ability to load/unload cargo when necessary and sit for extended periods while driving.
- Dependable, responsible, and safety-oriented mindset.
Experience
- Minimum of 1–2 years of regional or long-haul truck driving experience preferred.
- Experience with handling different types of freight, including dry van, refrigerated, or flatbed loads, is a plus.
Working Hours
- Regional routes with home time typically every week.
- Flexible scheduling may be available depending on route assignments.
- Drivers must be willing to comply with DOT hours-of-service regulations.
