Key Responsibilities
- Operate a Class A commercial vehicle to transport goods locally according to assigned schedules.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT regulations.
- Safely load and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, mileage records, and electronic logging device (ELD) compliance.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse staff, and customers to ensure smooth operations.
- Report any mechanical issues, accidents, or incidents promptly to management.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in local trucking or transportation operations preferred.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards.
- Ability to navigate local routes efficiently using GPS or maps.
- Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
Experience
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience as a Class A Truck Driver preferred.
- Experience with local deliveries and familiarity with regional routes is highly desirable.
Working Hours
- Primarily local routes with predictable start and end times.
- Occasional flexibility required for early morning, late evening, or weekend deliveries as needed.
- Full-time position with the potential for overtime depending on operational demands.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong mechanical aptitude to perform basic vehicle maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret delivery schedules, maps, and instructions.
- Commitment to safety, punctuality, and professional conduct.
- Physical stamina to handle cargo loading/unloading when required.
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
