NorthStar Contractors is seeking a highly skilled and certified welder to join our unionized workforce. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing precise welding operations on a variety of materials in industrial and construction settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques, be familiar with interpreting blueprints and welding symbols, and demonstrate adherence to union standards and protocols. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform high-quality welding tasks (MIG, TIG, Stick) on metals including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
- Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings to meet project specifications.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Operate welding equipment, grinders, and other related machinery safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate with other team members, including fabricators, engineers, and supervisors, to ensure smooth project execution.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with OSHA and union regulations.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality issues promptly to supervisors.
- Participate in union meetings, trainings, and continuous development programs as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid welding certification (e.g., AWS Certified Welder or equivalent).
- Proven experience in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
- Knowledge of welding codes, standards, and union regulations.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
- Effective communication skills and teamwork orientation.
Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of professional welding experience in industrial, manufacturing, or construction environments.
- Previous experience in a unionized work setting is highly desirable.
Working Hours:
- Full-time position, typically 40 hours per week.
- Schedule may include overtime, evenings, or weekends depending on project needs.
- Adherence to union work schedules and seniority system.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Thorough understanding of metal properties, welding techniques, and safety practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot welding defects and repair errors efficiently.
- Physical stamina to handle welding tasks for extended periods.
- Commitment to continuous learning and skill improvement through union training programs.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability to changing project requirements.
