Job Summary:


NorthStar Contractors is seeking a highly skilled and certified welder to join our unionized workforce. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing precise welding operations on a variety of materials in industrial and construction settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques, be familiar with interpreting blueprints and welding symbols, and demonstrate adherence to union standards and protocols. Key Responsibilities:



  • Perform high-quality welding tasks (MIG, TIG, Stick) on metals including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings to meet project specifications.

  • Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.

  • Operate welding equipment, grinders, and other related machinery safely and efficiently.

  • Collaborate with other team members, including fabricators, engineers, and supervisors, to ensure smooth project execution.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with OSHA and union regulations.

  • Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality issues promptly to supervisors.

  • Participate in union meetings, trainings, and continuous development programs as required.




Required Skills and Qualifications:



  • Valid welding certification (e.g., AWS Certified Welder or equivalent).

  • Proven experience in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.

  • Knowledge of welding codes, standards, and union regulations.

  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.

  • Effective communication skills and teamwork orientation.




Experience:



  • Minimum 3–5 years of professional welding experience in industrial, manufacturing, or construction environments.

  • Previous experience in a unionized work setting is highly desirable.




Working Hours:



  • Full-time position, typically 40 hours per week.

  • Schedule may include overtime, evenings, or weekends depending on project needs.

  • Adherence to union work schedules and seniority system.




Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):



  • Thorough understanding of metal properties, welding techniques, and safety practices.

  • Ability to troubleshoot welding defects and repair errors efficiently.

  • Physical stamina to handle welding tasks for extended periods.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability to changing project requirements.
