Job Summary
National Pipeline Services is seeking a skilled and dedicated Pipeline Welder to join our onsite project team. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in welding and fabricating pipelines for oil, gas, or water infrastructure projects. This position involves working in field conditions, performing high-quality welds in accordance with industry codes and safety standards. The Pipeline Welder will collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other technicians to ensure that all pipeline systems are constructed efficiently, securely, and within project timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding on pipes and fittings made of carbon steel, stainless steel, or other metals using approved welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, MIG, or TIG).
- Interpret and follow technical blueprints, welding symbols, and engineering drawings.
- Inspect welds to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
- Operate and maintain welding equipment and tools in safe working condition.
- Prepare and align pipe sections for welding by cutting, grinding, and beveling edges.
- Conduct pressure testing and visual inspections to ensure pipeline integrity.
- Work closely with site supervisors to coordinate daily welding activities.
- Adhere strictly to company safety policies, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations.
- Assist in pipe fit-up, rigging, and other field operations as required.
- Document completed welds, materials used, and inspection results for quality assurance records.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Certified welder with valid industry-recognized qualifications (e.g., ASME, API, or AWS certification).
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques, pipe materials, and joining procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and weld maps.
- Good understanding of safety regulations and pipeline construction standards.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Physically fit and able to work in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.
- Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in pipeline welding, preferably in oil and gas or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Previous fieldwork experience with underground, offshore, or cross-country pipelines is highly desirable.
- Experience with weld inspection and testing methods will be an added advantage.
Working Hours
- Full-time, onsite position.
- Standard working hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Saturday.
- Overtime and weekend work may be required depending on project demands.
- Candidates should be willing to work in remote project sites and travel as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of welding codes (ASME Section IX, API 1104).
- Familiarity with pipeline construction equipment and field safety procedures.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot welding-related issues.
- Effective time management and the ability to meet strict project deadlines.
