Job Summary
SafeTank Industries, a leading manufacturer of high-quality industrial tanks and pressure vessels, is seeking a skilled Tank and Vessel Welder to join our expert fabrication team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing precision welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials used in the construction of storage tanks, pressure vessels, and related components. This role requires an individual who is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of producing high-quality welds in accordance with ASME and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding operations on tanks, vessels, and structural components using MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to ensure precise fabrication.
- Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, fitting, and alignment of components.
- Conduct visual inspections and perform non-destructive testing (NDT) to verify weld quality and conformance to specifications.
- Maintain and calibrate welding equipment, tools, and safety gear.
- Work closely with quality control and engineering teams to ensure compliance with ASME Section IX and company welding procedures.
- Follow strict safety standards and use appropriate PPE at all times.
- Assist in fabrication layout, fitting, and assembly of large industrial tanks and vessels.
- Participate in training, safety meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience as a welder in tank or pressure vessel fabrication.
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW).
- Strong understanding of welding codes and standards (ASME, API, AWS).
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and weld maps.
- Certification in welding processes (ASME or AWS preferred).
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Physically capable of lifting heavy materials and working in confined spaces or elevated positions.
Experience
- Minimum: 3–5 years of experience in welding and fabrication of tanks, vessels, or heavy industrial equipment.
- Preferred: Experience in ASME-certified shop environments or with pressure vessel fabrication.
Working Hours
- Full-time position.
- Standard working hours: Monday to Saturday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Overtime and weekend shifts may be required based on project deadlines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong technical knowledge of welding metallurgy and joint design.
- Skilled in operating cutting torches, grinders, and other fabrication tools.
- Knowledge of material handling, rigging, and safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities under pressure.
- Good communication and documentation skills for recording weld data and inspection results.
