Job Summary


Rocky Mountain Contractors is seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment Welder to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing high-quality welding, fabrication, and repair work on a variety of heavy machinery, construction vehicles, and equipment components. This role requires a strong understanding of welding techniques, materials, and safety procedures to ensure the durability and reliability of our equipment fleet. Key Responsibilities



  • Perform welding and fabrication work on heavy equipment, such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and trucks.

  • Diagnose structural damage and determine appropriate repair procedures.

  • Operate MIG, TIG, and stick welding equipment, cutting torches, and plasma cutters.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.

  • Fabricate and install new parts, frames, and structural supports as needed.

  • Conduct preventive maintenance and ensure all welded joints meet quality standards.

  • Inspect and test completed welds for accuracy and durability.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company and OSHA safety regulations.

  • Collaborate with mechanics, engineers, and supervisors to ensure timely and efficient repairs.




Required Skills and Qualifications



  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification preferred.

  • Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and arc welding.

  • Strong understanding of welding symbols, blueprints, and fabrication processes.

  • Ability to weld and fabricate using carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.

  • Knowledge of equipment repair and maintenance standards for heavy machinery.

  • Must be able to lift heavy parts and work in various outdoor and industrial environments.

  • Valid driver’s license; CDL is an asset.

  • Welding certification (AWS or equivalent) preferred but not mandatory.




Experience



  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in welding and fabrication, preferably within the construction, mining, or heavy equipment repair industry.

  • Experience with mobile welding units or field repair work is highly desirable.




Working Hours



  • Full-time position: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • Overtime and weekend work may be required during peak project periods or emergency repairs.

  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess and prioritize multiple repair needs.

  • Solid understanding of welding metallurgy, materials, and structural integrity.
