Job Summary


Prime Fabricators is seeking a skilled Welder Fitter to join our dynamic fabrication shop team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assembling, fitting, and welding metal components to create high-quality structures, machinery, and products according to technical drawings and blueprints. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of fabrication techniques. The candidate should have experience with various welding methods, including MIG, TIG, and arc welding, as well as the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.




Key Responsibilities



  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications for fabrication and assembly.

  • Measure, cut, and fit metal components accurately using fabrication tools and equipment.

  • Perform MIG, TIG, or arc welding to join metal parts according to required specifications.

  • Inspect and verify completed welds for quality, accuracy, and structural integrity.

  • Set up and operate fabrication machinery such as grinders, saws, and drills.

  • Align and position workpieces using clamps, jigs, and fixtures before welding.

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a clean and safe condition.

  • Follow safety protocols and report any potential hazards immediately.

  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and fellow welders to ensure production deadlines and quality standards are met.

  • Participate in quality assurance and testing of finished products.




Required Skills and Qualifications



  • Proven experience as a Welder Fitter in a fabrication shop or manufacturing environment.

  • Strong knowledge of various welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-core).

  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.

  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical stamina.

  • Basic understanding of metal properties and materials.

  • Familiarity with measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures).

  • Strong focus on accuracy, quality, and safety.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.




Experience



  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in metal fabrication or structural welding.

  • Experience working with carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum fabrication is preferred.

  • Certification in welding (such as AWS or equivalent) is an advantage but not mandatory.




Working Hours



  • Full-Time Position – 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Saturday.

  • Overtime may be required during peak production periods.

  • Knowledge of fabrication standards and welding codes.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to use power and hand tools safely and efficiently.

  • Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors.
