Job Summary

American Welding Bureau is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Welding Inspector to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals starting their career in the welding and fabrication industry who are eager to learn and grow in a professional environment. The Welding Inspector will support quality assurance processes, ensure compliance with welding codes and standards, and assist in the inspection of welding operations across projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior welding inspectors in inspecting and evaluating welded joints, materials, and fabrication processes.
  • Verify compliance with American Welding Society (AWS) and other relevant welding codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Conduct visual inspections and document findings accurately.
  • Support non-destructive testing (NDT) activities such as ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle inspection, and dye penetrant testing under supervision.
  • Maintain inspection records, reports, and quality documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers, production teams, and project managers to address welding quality issues.
  • Observe and report unsafe welding practices and recommend corrective actions.
  • Participate in training sessions and continuous learning programs to enhance technical knowledge and inspection skills.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Technical diploma in Welding, Metallurgy, or related field preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of welding processes, materials, and industry standards (AWS preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions effectively.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a technical inspection role.

Experience

  • No prior professional experience is required for entry-level candidates.
  • Internship, apprenticeship, or hands-on experience in welding, fabrication, or inspection is a plus.

Working Hours

  • Full-time position; standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
  • Flexibility may be required for project-based inspections or site visits.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with welding codes, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Understanding of welding equipment and safety protocols.
  • Strong observational skills and analytical thinking.
  • Physical ability to inspect welding work, including standing, climbing, and bending as needed.
  • Proficiency in using computers and documentation software for reporting.
