Job Summary


BigRig Fabrication is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Maintenance Welder to join our heavy machinery team. This role focuses on performing welding maintenance, repairs, and fabrication tasks on industrial equipment and heavy machinery to ensure safe and efficient operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with welding techniques and a strong understanding of mechanical components, demonstrating precision, reliability, and commitment to workplace safety.




Key Responsibilities



  • Perform welding maintenance, repairs, and modifications on heavy machinery, equipment, and structural components.

  • Inspect machinery and equipment for wear, damage, or safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.

  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to execute welding and repair tasks accurately.

  • Operate welding machines, cutting tools, grinders, and other fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to diagnose mechanical issues and implement solutions.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, including completed work, materials used, and safety inspections.

  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols, company policies, and regulatory standards.

  • Support preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend machinery lifespan.




Required Skills and Qualifications



  • Proficient in MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Cored welding techniques.

  • Strong knowledge of metallurgy, welding procedures, and fabrication standards.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.

  • Skilled in using welding equipment, grinders, cutting tools, and precision measuring instruments.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with OSHA or relevant safety standards.

  • Excellent physical stamina, dexterity, and hand-eye coordination for heavy-duty tasks.




Experience



  • Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in welding and maintenance for heavy machinery, industrial equipment, or fabrication projects.

  • Experience in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial maintenance environment is highly desirable.

  • Prior experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance on large machinery is preferred.




Working Hours



  • Full-time schedule, typically Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

  • Flexibility for overtime or emergency repairs as needed.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with industrial systems.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • High attention to detail with precision in welding and fabrication tasks.

  • Effective communication skills to coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and team members.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and handle high-pressure situations.
