Job Summary

DocuTech Writers is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Technical Writer to join our remote team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining high-quality software documentation, including user manuals, API guides, system workflows, and technical specifications. This role requires translating complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly content for a variety of audiences. The position is fully remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to a collaborative and innovative environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and maintain software documentation, including user guides, online help, API documentation, and system manuals.
  • Collaborate with software developers, product managers, and quality assurance teams to gather technical information and ensure accuracy.
  • Translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and understandable content for non-technical and technical users alike.
  • Review and edit existing documentation for clarity, consistency, and compliance with company standards.
  • Ensure all documentation follows DocuTech Writers’ style guide and branding guidelines.
  • Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Continuously update documentation to reflect software updates, new features, or changes in processes.
  • Assist in creating templates, diagrams, flowcharts, and other supporting visual content to enhance documentation quality.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in technical writing, preferably in software, IT, or SaaS industries.
  • Strong understanding of software development processes, APIs, and technical systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with impeccable grammar and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in technical writing tools such as Markdown, MadCap Flare, RoboHelp, Confluence, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git, SVN) and collaborative documentation workflows.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts in a clear and user-friendly manner.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2–4 years of professional experience as a technical writer, preferably in software documentation.
  • Experience creating documentation for web applications, desktop software, or APIs is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams in a remote setting.

Working Hours

  • Full-time, remote position.
  • Flexible working hours with some overlap required for team meetings and collaborative sessions.
  • Occasional deadlines may require extended hours depending on project needs.
