Job Summary
BookCraft Media is seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Online Copy Editor to join our remote publishing team. Key Responsibilities
- Review, edit, and proofread content for grammar, punctuation, style, and factual accuracy.
- Ensure content aligns with BookCraft Media’s editorial guidelines and brand voice.
- Collaborate with writers, content creators, and other editorial staff to improve overall content quality.
- Fact-check references, statistics, and other content elements for accuracy.
- Provide constructive feedback and suggestions to enhance readability and engagement.
- Format content for online publication, including headings, links, and multimedia integration.
- Manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced remote environment.
- Stay updated on language trends, industry standards, and best practices in digital publishing.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a copy editor, content editor, or similar role.
- Excellent command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, and style.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high editorial standards.
- Familiarity with digital publishing tools and content management systems (CMS).
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of professional editing experience, preferably in digital publishing.
- Experience editing online articles, blogs, eBooks, or similar content is highly desirable.
Working Hours
- Flexible remote working hours with the expectation to meet project deadlines.
- Standard full-time commitment (40 hours per week), with part-time options available for highly skilled candidates.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in English grammar, syntax, and style guides (APA, Chicago, or MLA preferred).
- Ability to adapt content tone to different audiences and mediums.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Competence with editing software, including Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and Grammarly.
- Basic understanding of SEO principles and web content optimization.
