Key Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with telehealth visits, including patient intake, documentation, and follow-up instructions.
- Schedule and manage patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Conduct virtual patient check-ins and gather essential health information.
- Verify patient insurance information and facilitate billing processes.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with patients to answer questions and provide guidance.
- Support providers in virtual consultations by ensuring smooth technology use and patient engagement.
- Coordinate referrals, lab orders, and prescriptions as directed by providers.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- Previous experience in a healthcare or telehealth environment is a plus.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth platforms.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, procedures, and patient care standards.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA standards.
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in a medical assistant role, preferably in a telehealth or virtual care setting.
- Experience with remote patient management and digital communication tools is highly desirable.
Working Hours
- Flexible remote schedule with options for part-time or full-time hours.
- Availability may include weekdays, evenings, and occasional weekends depending on patient demand.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in telecommunication tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.) and EHR software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, remote work environment.
- Empathetic patient engagement and exceptional customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while ensuring accuracy in documentation.
