Job Summary
SecureNet is seeking a motivated Cybersecurity Analyst Intern with a strong interest in vulnerability assessment and threat detection. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating security risks across IT systems, networks, and applications. The role offers an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain practical exposure to industry-leading security tools and techniques while working with an expert cybersecurity team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct vulnerability scans on systems, applications, and networks using industry-standard tools.
- Assist in analyzing scan results to identify potential security risks and misconfigurations.
- Document vulnerabilities, their severity levels, and provide recommendations for remediation.
- Support the cybersecurity team in penetration testing and risk assessment activities.
- Monitor security alerts, logs, and events to detect potential threats.
- Participate in creating security reports and compliance documentation.
- Stay updated with the latest cybersecurity trends, tools, and threat intelligence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve security posture and best practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Basic knowledge of vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, OpenVAS, Qualys, Burp Suite).
- Familiarity with networking protocols, firewalls, and operating systems (Windows, Linux).
- Understanding of OWASP Top 10 and common security threats.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Experience
- No prior professional experience required.
- Hands-on academic projects, certifications (CompTIA Security+, CEH, or similar), or lab practice in cybersecurity are highly desirable.
Working Hours
- Flexible working hours, approximately 20–25 hours per week for part-time interns.
- Full-time opportunities may be available depending on performance and project needs.
