Job Summary

NetWorks is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Network Engineering Intern to join our dynamic IT team. This internship offers hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN). The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation, a passion for networking technologies, and a desire to grow in a fast-paced environment. This role provides a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced network engineers and gain practical exposure to real-world enterprise networking solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of LAN and WAN networks.
  • Support network monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization activities.
  • Help with the deployment of network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
  • Document network configurations, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure secure and efficient network operations.
  • Participate in testing and implementing network upgrades or new technologies.
  • Provide technical support for network-related issues, escalating when necessary.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, switching).
  • Familiarity with LAN/WAN architectures and protocols.
  • Knowledge of network hardware and devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
  • Understanding of network security principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency with networking tools and software is a plus.

Experience

  • No prior professional experience required; relevant coursework or personal projects in networking will be an advantage.
  • Hands-on lab experience with Cisco, Juniper, or other network devices is a plus.

Working Hours

  • Full-time internship: 40 hours per week (flexible schedule may be considered).
  • Duration: 3–6 months (with potential for full-time placement based on performance).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong foundation in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols, VLANs, VPNs, and firewalls.
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt to evolving technologies.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and reliability.
