Job Summary
Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Data Entry Specialist to join our growing team on a contract-to-hire basis. This role involves accurately entering, updating, and maintaining sensitive healthcare and patient records while ensuring compliance with medical standards, data protection, and confidentiality requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong typing skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately input medical and patient data into electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Review and verify patient information for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of all medical records in compliance with HIPAA and data protection guidelines.
- Work closely with healthcare professionals, billing departments, and administrative teams to ensure seamless data flow.
- Identify and correct errors in medical documentation.
- Generate and maintain reports as needed.
- Support quality assurance audits to uphold data accuracy and integrity.
- Meet daily productivity and accuracy targets.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and basic understanding of healthcare processes.
- Good computer skills, including MS Office and EHR/EMR software.
- Fast and accurate typing speed (minimum 45 WPM preferred).
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Experience
- Required: Minimum of 1 year of experience in data entry, preferably in the medical or healthcare field.
- Preferred: Prior experience with medical billing, coding, or EHR systems.
Working Hours
- Contract-to-hire position.
- Standard workweek of 40 hours (Monday–Friday).
- Flexibility may be required depending on project deadlines and healthcare provider needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of HIPAA and medical data compliance standards.
- Ability to adapt to new medical software systems quickly.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to error resolution.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
