Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures efficiently and with care.
- Accurately label, handle, and transport blood and other specimens to the laboratory.
- Maintain and update patient records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
- Adhere to hospital protocols and safety guidelines, including infection control practices.
- Provide excellent patient care by ensuring a comfortable and reassuring experience.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to specimen collection or equipment.
- Collaborate with the medical team to address patient needs and improve processes.
- Maintain inventory of phlebotomy supplies and request restocks as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification is mandatory.
- Proven experience as a phlebotomist, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients of all ages.
- Ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism and empathy.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and specimen handling protocols.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMRs) and phlebotomy equipment.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in phlebotomy.
- Experience in high-volume hospital or clinical environments is an advantage.
Working Hours
