Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and motivated Special Education Teaching Assistant to join our team in Singapore. As a Special Education Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the lead teacher to provide individualized support, create a positive learning environment, and assist in the delivery of specialized educational programs. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the lead teacher in implementing individualized educational programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students during lessons, ensuring they can participate in activities and complete tasks.
  • Help in managing the classroom environment, ensuring safety, and supporting the inclusion of students in all activities.
  • Assist in preparing teaching materials, organizing resources, and setting up learning activities.
  • Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
  • Support students with personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance when required.
  • Collaborate with other support staff and professionals to deliver effective interventions.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom atmosphere.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
  • Previous experience working with children, particularly in special education settings, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of various disabilities and learning challenges (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Dyslexia).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Patient, empathetic, and understanding nature with a passion for working with children.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with children in educational or caregiving roles, preferably in special education.
  • Experience in implementing or assisting with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with behavior management strategies and techniques for students with special needs.

Working Hours:

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings or weekends for meetings or training.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of special education laws, policies, and best practices.
  • Ability to create a supportive, patient, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies and teaching aids used in special education.
  • Proficiency in using educational software and tools.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges in the classroom.
